The Black Entertainment Television (BET) awards cover various fields like music, movies, and sports. This year, the show had to be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

For the first time in his career, LeBron James, the star player from the Los Angeles Lakers, received the Sportsman of the Year award for his impressive performance in basketball over the past year. LeBron, who is 35 years old and in his 17th year in the NBA, continues to excel in the sport.

Upon learning about his win, LeBron James shared BET’s tweet on Twitter and expressed his gratitude to the selection committee. The Lakers, like many other teams, are preparing to resume the season in Orlando. Before the season was suspended, James had averaged 25.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 10.6 assists (a current league record).

LeBron aims to lead the Lakers to an NBA championship, not only enhancing his legacy but also honoring the memory of Kobe Bryant.
