The NBA, alongside the National Basketball Players Association, has confirmed the details for the return of the season at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, starting at the end of next month.
The announcement was made on Friday. Strict health and safety measures will be enforced for the 22 teams participating, without any fans present, and the games will be spread across three different venues within the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.
The NBA has not yet released the schedule for the 88 “seeding games,” featuring eight games for each team, set to begin on July 30. Additionally, the national broadcast plan for the remainder of the season has not been disclosed either.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stated: “We’ve collaborated with the Players Association to devise a restart plan that emphasizes health and safety, upholds competitive integrity, and provides a platform to address social justice issues. We appreciate Disney’s support as our long-standing partner in hosting these games and making this return to play a reality. We also extend our thanks to the public health experts and infectious disease specialists who have guided the development of thorough medical protocols and safeguards.”
