UFC flyweight contender Jessica Eye was among three fighters who failed to make weight for the upcoming UFC Fight Night event, with another fighter withdrawing before the weigh-in.
Eye, a contender in the women’s flyweight division, weighed in at 126.25 pounds, slightly over the limit, for her planned main event fight against Cynthia Calvillo.
A video captured Eye visibly shaking uncontrollably during the weigh-in, indicating the challenging weight cut she underwent.
“I don’t think I can stand, guys,” Eye expressed while leaving the scale. “I’m sorry.”
Eye previously fought in the 135-pound bantamweight division, and considering her recent weight struggles, it may be beneficial for her to consider returning to that category.
Following her relocation to Las Vegas, Eye has noticed positive changes in her career.
“Moving to Vegas has probably been the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my life,” Eye shared with BJPENN.com’s Mike Pendleton. “We’re a year in now since I moved to Vegas, and it has truly transformed me. I recommend everyone step out of their comfort zone and make a move. I’m overwhelmed by how much this move has impacted me. I’m grateful for Eric Nicksick, who has been a mentor, teacher, friend, and coach. Gray Maynard, a UFC legend, along with my brother, jiu-jitsu coach, and Bo Sandoval, have been incredibly supportive. My move here has been amazing and continues to evolve.”
