It’s finally happening.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have both agreed to a two-fight deal, as confirmed by their promoter Eddie Hearn.

“We’re making excellent progress,” stated Eddie Hearn exclusively to Sky Sports News. “Still, there’s a lot to figure out in terms of venues and dates.

Hearn added:

“We have Dillian Whyte’s mandatory fight that must happen before this big showdown.

“It’s safe to say that both Joshua and Fury are on the same page when it comes to the financial aspects of the fight.

“We’ve been in discussions with Fury’s management team, MTK, assuring them that Joshua’s camp has approved all deal structures from their end and Fury’s side as well.

“We’re in a good place. It’s fair to say that both fighters have given their nod for the fight to proceed. Two fights.

“There are still hurdles to clear along the way, but we’re heading in the right direction. I’m confident that both camps are on board for the fight.

“The tentative timeline is that the first fight could take place next summer in 2021.

“There’s a significant window where Whyte needs to have his shot at the title, and that’s crucial to us.

“The major breakthrough is that Joshua and Fury have agreed to a two-fight deal essentially.

“The financial aspect is usually the toughest part of any deal. I believe we’re now in a good place where both parties have reached an agreement on that front.

“Although contracts haven’t been signed yet due to some details that need ironing out, we’re aiming to have them finalized for 2021.

“Both fighters are on board, and the deal structure has been presented and accepted by all parties.

“A suitable model is in place that satisfies everyone involved.

“This matchup is monumental in British boxing history. It can’t get any bigger, and it will likely remain the biggest fight in our era.

“Two very distinct fighters, each with their unique styles, experiences, and comeback stories.”

Fury currently holds the undefeated WBC heavyweight title, while Joshua possesses the IBF, WBA, and WBO belts.

However, before the showdown, Fury is obligated to face Deontay Wilder for the third time, and Joshua is set to fight mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.
