There is a growing belief that Colin Kaepernick, the former quarterback of the 49ers, may make a return to the NFL before the 2020 season, and he is receiving backing from within the league.
Matt Ryan, star quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, thinks that Kaepernick, known for his versatile playing style, “deserves every opportunity” to make a comeback in the NFL, as reported by Falcons journalist William McFadden.
“I think he should have every opportunity,” Ryan expressed to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com. “He brought attention to an issue that, although it’s taking time, is sparking more engagement from people. I believe his protest has been acknowledged… I think he should be given every chance to secure a position in this league.”
Kaepernick has shown interest in making a comeback to the NFL since he chose to opt out of his contract with the 49ers in 2017.
Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem in 2016. He has not played professionally since then.
After the tragic death of George Floyd at the hands of the police, Kaepernick, who kneeled to protest police brutality against minorities, has once again become a point of discussion.
