At the ongoing Big Rock Blue Marlin fishing tournament in Morehead City, North Carolina, Jordan, operating the “Catch 23” boat with his team, reeled in a 442.3lb marlin. Despite their impressive catch, they currently stand in sixth place, with heavier catches overshadowing theirs. Teams from around the world gather for a shot at the $3.3 million prize pool.
Regrettably for Jordan’s crew, their marlin falls short of the top three, putting them out of the prize-winners’ circle. The leading catch weighs 494.2lb, and with the tournament concluding on Thursday, time is ticking for contenders.
The tournament champion claims $1.1 million, with the runners-up securing substantial rewards. Additionally, there’s a $550,000 bonus for the first team to hook a 500lb marlin.
As the Catch 23 made its way back to shore, Jordan and his crew proudly posed next to the marlin for photos. Jordan expressed his desire for an even bigger catch in a brief interview, hinting at future attempts.
While no stranger to marlin fishing competitions, this contest marks Jordan’s first in North Carolina.
