While the NBA is still in the process of gearing up for its return to play, the NHL seems to be on a different timeline. The start of Phase 2 is scheduled for early June, allowing teams to conduct practices with up to six players at a time. Although no physical contact will be permitted during these sessions, it marks a positive step forward. Currently, players are in quarantine for Phase 1. Phase 3 and 4 do not have confirmed dates yet, but it is likely that the third phase will involve full training camps, with the fourth phase marking the official return to ice for games. As part of the safety protocols, players will undergo Covid-19 testing two days prior to attending camp, followed by twice-weekly testing throughout the plan.
