Megan Rapinoe has been vocal about her criticism of the President, especially in light of current events affecting the world.
The renowned player for the United States women’s national team and World Cup champion has referred to him as a “white nationalist” and has even entertained the idea of entering politics.
Regarding Trump:
“Immigration does not lead to job losses. In fact, it benefits the economy. Women’s participation in the workforce is advantageous for the economy. Equality is beneficial for the economy. Mass incarceration is detrimental to the economy and society, resulting in increased costs in the long run. The spreading of hate and division within the country has only exacerbated tensions, breeding more anxiety, fear, and discontent among the populace moving forward.”
“There hasn’t been any real improvement for Donald Trump’s support base. He hasn’t provided them with significant job opportunities or a better quality of life. He has simply given them a false narrative as to why they might not be satisfied with their current situation. There’s been no clear path to progress.”
On her potential political ambitions:
Would you ever consider running for office?
I’m not ruling it out completely, but it does seem quite unlikely.
Have you ever thought about a hypothetical political run?
Well, the presidency would be the ultimate goal. If I were to pursue it, I would want to hold the highest office. However, my approach would involve assembling a team of individuals who are much more intelligent, competent, and skilled than me to handle the actual responsibilities. I’m not asserting that I’m the most qualified candidate for any governmental role. Instead, I would acknowledge my limitations and defer to those who excel in various areas of governance.”
