The Los Angeles County Coroner has disclosed the details of the latest autopsy report on the individuals involved in the tragic crash that claimed the lives of Kobe and Gigi Bryant, along with six other passengers and the pilot.
The report confirmed that the helicopter was traveling at 184 mph when it crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, California.
The autopsy and toxicology reports confirmed that the pilot, Ara Zobayan, had no alcohol or drugs in his system at the time of the crash that was carrying Kobe Bryant, Gigi Bryant, and six others.
According to TMZ, here are the findings for the pilot, Ara Zobayan:
“Toxicology tests were conducted, and as per the report, “Toxicological testing did not find any alcohol or drugs of abuse. Substances tested for include: benzodiazepines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, marijuana, opioids, phencyclidine, and amphetamines.”
Vanessa Bryant has filed a lawsuit against the pilot and Island Express, the helicopter’s owner.
A spokesperson for the pilot responded, stating that the pilot bears no responsibility and alleged as part of their defense that any injuries or damages were caused partly due to negligence on the part of the plaintiffs and their deceased.
The legal documents cited an affirmative defense regarding “comparative fault/assumption of risk of plaintiffs,” suggesting that the injuries and damages were a result of negligence on the part of the plaintiffs and their knowing acceptance of the risks involved.
Vanessa’s legal team asserted that Island Express Helicopters, its agents, and employees, including Ara, were obligated to exercise the same level of caution that a careful and prudent pilot would in similar circumstances.
The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified and punitive damages.
