Kevin Durant spent three successful seasons playing for the Golden State Warriors. As his time with the team neared its end, it became apparent that he was ready to move on from the franchise.

During his tenure with the Warriors, the two-time NBA champion faced conflicts and disagreements with teammates and the media, including journalist Ethan Strauss.

Durant expressed his frustration in February 2019, stating, “You have Ethan Strauss coming in here, sharing his opinions and attributing them to me. He doesn’t interact with anyone, just observes, then writes his piece,”

Over a year later, Durant now plays for the Brooklyn Nets and is still recovering from a torn Achilles injury sustained during the 2019 NBA Finals.

Strauss recently authored a book about the Warriors titled “The Victory Machine: The Making and Unmaking of the Warriors Dynasty.” Despite Durant’s departure from the team, Strauss reached out to him for an interview, which did not go well.

Months after Durant moved to Brooklyn, Strauss contacted him for insights for “The Victory Machine.” Durant’s response was clear: “I see this as part of your job, but it feels like you’re just aiming to get more content for your book. Forget you, your sources, and your book,”. Even though Durant no longer plays for the Warriors, he is featured alone on the book cover, as reported by The New Yorker.
