Jaguars Considering Trading RB Leonard Fournette

Recently, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding Leonard Fournette. He made headlines by urging the Jacksonville Jaguars to sign Cam Newton as their quarterback. However, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, it seems that Fournette himself could be on the move.

Schefter revealed on Saturday that the Jaguars have listed Leonard Fournette on the trade market and have engaged in trade talks with other teams about the former No. 4 overall draft pick.

Fournette is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is set to earn just over $4 million for the upcoming 2020 season. Despite being a talented running back, he is unlikely to demand a contract similar to Christian McCaffrey’s four-year, $64 million extension with the Carolina Panthers.

If the Jaguars were to trade Fournette now, they would free up $4,167,393 in salary cap space while incurring $4,471,524 in dead money.

During the 2019 season, the 25-year-old Fournette recorded 1,152 rushing yards, 76 receptions for 522 receiving yards, and scored three touchdowns.
