This morning, the surprising news broke that Von Miller has tested positive for coronavirus, making him the NFL’s second confirmed case, following Los Angeles Rams player Brian Allen.

Later in the day, the Denver Broncos’ standout linebacker shared his first public statement, shedding light on the events leading up to his COVID-19 test.

Confirming the news, Miller spoke to 9NEWS’ Mike Klis, saying, “I’ve just been here in the crib and I started to get a little cough. You know I have asthma and I started getting a little cough a couple days ago. My girlfriend she told me when I was asleep she said my cough it didn’t sound normal.”

Miller initially used his asthma nebulizer to address his cough, but when there was no improvement, he decided to undergo COVID-19 testing. This week, the diagnosis confirmed he had contracted the virus.

Reflecting on his situation, Miller told Klis, “I’m not sure what’s going on but I tell ya what, I’m in good spirits. I’m still Von. I’m not feeling sick or hurting or anything like that.”

The eight-time Pro Bowler is presently self-isolating at his home in the Denver area.
