Melvin Gordon took a gamble on his abilities that did not pay off as he hoped.
As a free-agent running back, Gordon opted to hold out for four games during the 2019 season with the expectation of securing a more lucrative deal. However, the Los Angeles Chargers were not swayed by his tactics.
Presently, Gordon remains without any concrete offers as teams are hesitant to meet his previous salary demands. According to a report by Mike Garafolo from NFL Network, no franchise has come close to matching the approximate $10 million per year that the Chargers proposed to Gordon back in 2019.
After returning from his holdout, Gordon participated in twelve games, accumulating 612 rushing yards on 162 carries. Additionally, he made 42 receptions for 296 yards through the air, while scoring a total of nine touchdowns.
