Oprah Winfrey has spoken out in support of King, revealing that she is receiving death threats as a result of the backlash. Winfrey became emotional during an interview on “Today” while discussing the situation.
Winfrey stated, “She is not doing well. She is not doing well because she now has death threats and has to now travel with security. She is feeling very much attacked.”
In response to the criticism, Winfrey mentioned, “She’s not doing well and feels that she was put in a really terrible position. Because that interview had already run and in the context of the interview, everyone seemed fine, including Lisa Leslie.”
Winfrey also highlighted the misogynistic and dangerous nature of the attacks King is facing, expressing concerns for her safety and well-being in the face of such vitriol.
