Freddie Kitchens is set to leave the Cleveland Browns after a challenging first season with the team, as reported by The Athletic’s NFL reporter Michael Lombardi.
Lombardi indicated on Saturday that he has been informed by two different sources within the NFL that the team is planning on more than just a change in head coach before the start of the 2020 season.
Despite high expectations following a strong 2018 season, the Cleveland Browns were not able to meet their preseason projections to win the AFC North and be a contender for the Super Bowl. With a current record of 6-9, the team will not be making the playoffs this year.
Baker Mayfield, the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, was unable to replicate his impressive rookie performance this season. He has thrown for 19 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in 15 games, in contrast to his 2019 season totals of 3,725 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
