Statement of regret following unsportsmanlike behavior in recent game

Xavier Rhodes, a cornerback for the Minnesota Vikings, expressed regret for his emotional outburst on the sidelines following the team’s close defeat against the Seattle Seahawks. As he made his way off the field, Rhodes was seen kicking a teammate and hitting water bottles in frustration.

Rhodes publicly apologized to both his teammates and his coach, Mike Zimmer, during a press conference.

“I understand that my behavior was not in line with the standards expected of me, especially as a team leader,” said Rhodes. “I deeply regret my actions towards Coach Zimmer and my fellow teammates. I acknowledge the need to handle situations more appropriately and professionally. I am aware of my responsibilities and I need to fulfill them better. I have to step up my game on the field, avoid penalties, and perform to the best of my abilities. There’s a lot of football left to play this season.”

Rhodes also mentioned that he has been dealing with some “personal issues” away from the game but declined to provide further details.
