After a successful 20-year career with the Boston Red Sox, David Ortiz transitioned to a role as a sports analyst at Fox. Following a recent tragic incident where he was shot, he is now preparing to make a comeback.
Just four months ago, Ortiz was shot in the back at a nightclub in the Dominican Republic. Despite the ordeal, he has made a remarkable recovery and is ready to provide commentary on the upcoming MLB 2019 postseason.
Ortiz shared a photo on Tuesday from the Fox studio, featuring himself alongside Kevin Burkhardt, Alex Rodriguez, and Frank Thomas, hinting at his imminent return to the sports broadcasting scene.
The shooting incident occurred back in June and Ortiz recounted the harrowing experience in an interview with the Boston Globe in September.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Ortiz was the target of the attack at a bar in Santo Domingo where he was shot at close range in the back. The bullet caused significant damage to his intestines, liver, and gallbladder, leaving him in a critical condition needing a six-hour emergency surgery to save his life. Subsequently, he underwent two more major surgeries to aid his recovery.
Multiple suspects have been apprehended in relation to the shooting incident.
