The World Rowing Championships for this year are taking place in Linz, Austria.
As the countdown to the Olympics continues, interest in rowing is growing. Athletes from various countries worldwide gathered to compete in the recent qualification event. In just a few days, the selections for rowing were made.
Competitors hailed from diverse nations. New Zealand’s Emma Twig and Hamish Bond exhibited remarkable dedication at the championships. Belarus’ Ekateina Karston, Norway’s Olaf Tufte, and an Arizona State Alum also vied for a spot at the Olympics. Coxswain Kendall Brodie made history as the first woman to compete in a men’s world championship.
The presence of gold and silver alumni from the United States and Canada added to the event’s prestige. Romania and New Zealand, with past world champions, along with Australia, who secured a bronze last year, were all well represented. James Rook led Australia’s team, while Paralympics champion Birgit Skarstein also joined the competition.
