It is believed that Patrick Chung was found with cocaine in New Hampshire on August 8th leading to his recent indictment.
Chung, a safety for the New England Patriots, was officially accused of cocaine possession last Wednesday following an indictment by a grand jury. This situation poses a challenge for Chung considering the strict regulations that football players are expected to follow.
In response to the situation, his team released a statement on Twitter taking a neutral stance and choosing not to get directly involved.
Reports from the Laconcia Daily claimed that Chung was in possession of cocaine in Meridith, a claim that has been denied by the sheriff.
Chung is scheduled to appear before a judge on Wednesday at 8:30 am and faces potential suspension from the NFL. The length of the suspension will depend on whether he is in the first stage of the process, where he may be able to avoid suspension, or if he is in stage one, which could result in a suspension of up to four games. Additionally, failing to comply with the NFL’s code of conduct could lead to further consequences.
Up until this incident, Chung had a clean record, and it remains to be seen how this situation will impact his future with the Patriots and the team’s dynamics.
