Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain for a world record setting fee of £200 million in 2017. But reports suggest that he is looking to leave the French giants before the European transfer window shuts on 2nd September.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have waded in with offers. The latter is reported to have involved the transfer of Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez to the Parc des Princes. Barcelona, the Brazilian’s former club, similarly offered a player-plus-cash trade off. This could have seen Philippe Coutinho moving to France along with a £92.4 million fee.

There are reports that Barcelona included midfielder Ivan Rakitic in the deal also. However, both teams have seen their offers turned away by PSG.

Spanish football journalist Gallium Balague has said that PSG would rather sell to Madrid, but have taken issue with the players offered. He suggests that they would like to see another Brazilian, Vinicius Junior, included in the deal.

PSG won their opening game of the season against Nimes last Sunday, although Neymar was not present. Several fans were spotted holding up signs telling him to “go home.” The victory came just a day after reports confirmed that talks regarding Neymar’s exit were “more advanced than before.”

However, after their recent rebuffs it remains to be seen what kind of deals the Spanish teams will come back with.
