Grades play a vital role in the world of sports, and the Jayhawks, Kansas’s collegiate swim and dive team, have clinched the prestigious title of the CSCAA Scholar All-America team. This marks their 34th semester of achieving academic recognition.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is a professional organization dedicated to fostering leadership within swimming and diving teams nationwide.

The Jayhawks stand out with the fifth highest average GPA among all collegiate swim teams, boasting an impressive 3.69 GPA last semester. To qualify for this honor, teams must maintain a minimum average GPA of 3.0 across all their athletes, reflecting a solid “B” grade average. The team’s success transcends the pool, emphasizing excellence in both academics and athletics.

Coach Clark Campbell sets stringent standards for the team, emphasizing the importance of academic achievement for their future professional endeavors. His vision is to see his athletes excel not only in their sports but also in their educational pursuits.

Laura Jacobsen, the team’s academic adviser, plays a crucial role in ensuring the girls have a productive semester. She monitors their grades and provides guidance to aid them in their academic journey.

The sense of unity within the Jayhawks is palpable. They uphold a culture of mutual accountability, collaborative effort, and support, both in their athletic endeavors and academic pursuits. Their collective aspirations serve as the driving force propelling them towards their achievements.
