As per Deadspin, the Boston Red Sox players, including their manager Alex Cora, have decided to skip the traditional White House visit following their World Series victory. Cora expressed his discomfort with celebrating at the White House and highlighted his advocacy for Puerto Rico. He mentioned that he has consistently used his platform to raise awareness for his homeland, ensuring that the struggles of Puerto Ricans are not overlooked.

Moreover, Cora intentionally chose to abstain from the visit to shed light on the ongoing challenges faced by Puerto Ricans in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

In addition to Cora, other players such as Xander Bogaerts, David Price, Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., Rafael Devers, Hector Velázquez, and Christian Vazquez have also decided not to participate in the White House Ceremony.
