Representing the Czech Republic, Eva Samkova achieved victory in the snowboard cross competition, while Lindsey Jacobellis failed to reach the finals. During the women’s finals, Samkova triumphed over British rider Charlotte Bakes, with Michela Moioli finishing in third place. Despite being a five-time winner at previous world championships, Jacobellis surprisingly did not advance to the semifinals and ended up in fifth place in the women’s race.
In the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, Samkova claimed gold in snowboardcross and secured bronze in South Korea last February, where Moioli took the top spot. In the men’s event at the world championship, Mick Dierdorff from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, emerged victorious, defeating Austria’s Hanno Douschan, with Emanuel Perathoner finishing in third place.
Samkova’s fierce determination at 25 years old propelled her to clinch the title at the world championship. Jacobellis’s unexpected setback in not advancing to the semifinals was disappointing for fans, given her previous success in the sport. Moioli, who finished as the runner-up, was previously victorious in South Korea, where Samkova came in second after being unable to overtake Moioli.
