Lindsey Vonn Decides to End Skiing Career

After nearly two decades as a competitive athlete and representing the U.S.A. in four Winter Olympics, three-time Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn has revealed that she will retire.

The 34-year-old made the announcement on her Instagram account, sharing that her final race will take place at the world championships in Sweden next week. Vonn expressed her sentiments stating, “I can reflect on my 82 World Cup victories, 20 World Cup titles, 3 Olympic medals, and 7 World Championship medals with pride, knowing that I have achieved something unparalleled in history by any woman, a fact that will always bring me immense pride!”

Lindsey Vonn will depart from the sport holding the title of the most successful female ski racer ever. Her 82 World Cup wins stand as a record for women, coming close to Ingemar Stenmark’s 86 victories.
