Many fans are wondering if Super Bowl LIII will heavily feature players from Rutgers. The answer to this question is somewhat affirmative. Although Rutgers hasn’t won a national title since 1869, the four players from Rutgers in the 53-man rosters of the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots make it the most represented college in this season’s Super Bowl. In comparison, Georgia leads with four players from the SEC among a total of 21 players, which isn’t a surprising stat.

Ten schools are represented by three players each, including five from the Pac-12 – California, Oregon State, Oregon, Washington, and USC. The Crimson Tide has two players, Donta Hightower and Mark Barron, representing them in the Super Bowl. Interestingly, both of these players have won national titles during their college years while playing for the Tide in 2009 and 2011.

Three other players on the Super Bowl rosters have also won the national title during their college careers: Lamarcus Joyner from Florida State in 2013, Andrew Whitworth from LSU in 2003, and the legendary Tom Brady. Two rookies, Sony Michel from Georgia and OgbonniaOkoronkwo, were part of the recent college football playoffs.

Matt Longacre, the Rams’ outside linebacker, was part of the 2013 national title-winning team at Northwest Missouri State. While there are approximately ten players from FCS schools in the Super Bowl, none of them have claimed a national title during their college careers.
