John Coughlin, a renowned professional skater who clinched the U.S. Pair Skating championship twice, tragically died by suicide in Kansas City, Missouri. He was 33 years old. The U.S. Figure Skating organization confirmed the news on Saturday, along with a statement from John’s sister, Angela Laune.
Expressing her profound sorrow, Angela revealed that her talented brother had taken his own life. The Kansas City police received a report of a suicide attempt from one of John’s neighbors just before 5 p.m. on Friday, leading to the discovery of his body.
