Hubbell and Zach Donohue emerged victorious in the ice dancing event last year and are now striving to achieve the same success in Michigan. For Madison Hubbell and her family, the US Figure Skating Championships hold sentimental value as they aim to defend their title in their home state.

Michigan holds a special place in Hubbell’s heart as it is her birthplace and where the duo honed their skills. They anticipate the support of familiar faces as they compete this weekend. Despite the weather conditions, Hubbell’s family is planning a tailgate event on Saturday to show their unwavering support.

Hubbell mentioned that her uncle will be overseeing the tailgate, showcasing their love for sports by creating a traditional American football experience near the arena parking lot. The event is scheduled for Saturday at 3 pm, reminiscent of the previous nationals held in San Jose, California.

In a surprising turn of events last year, Hubbell and Donohue dethroned the two-time champions, Alex Shibutani and Maia, to claim the title, proving their prowess in the sport. Despite finishing fourth in the Olympics behind the Shibutanis, they have been on a winning streak this season, securing victories at various prestigious events. With their impressive track record, it wouldn’t be unexpected for them to triumph once again and retain their title.
