Oliver Bekker managed the windy conditions well, scoring a 33 with one bogey and three birdies. He then surged ahead with four consecutive birdies from the 11th hole, bringing him to six under par and leading the game.

Despite not capitalizing on the final par-fives at the 15th and 18th holes, Bekker maintained his composure and finished with a solid 66, securing the lead in the first round over Dimitrios Papadatos.

Bekker described the game as epic and exhilarating and credited his success to adapting to the changing conditions. As an eight-time Sunshine Tour winner, Bekker recognized the challenges faced by all players and highlighted his ability to make crucial shots during the day.

He praised the firm greens and his accurate driving, which allowed him to stay mostly in the fairway and control his shots. Bekker acknowledged a few mistakes but overall played a steady round of golf.

Bekker felt that the course changes favored his gameplay, noting an improved fit between his skills and the course layout. He looks forward to the upcoming rounds and the opportunities they may bring.
