The current bantamweight champion, T.J. Dillashaw, will be challenging the flyweight champion, Henry Cejudo, in the upcoming UFC 233 event. This match will be contested at 125 pounds, with Dillashaw having a chance to become the sixth male fighter to hold titles in two different weight classes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

This latest development was revealed by Brett Okamoto on Thursday night. With the departure of long-reigning flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson to ONE Championship, the future of the UFC’s flyweight division seems uncertain. Several fighters are now expressing interest in competing at 125 pounds alongside the bantamweight division. Dillashaw could make history as the third champion in the UFC’s 125-pound division, aiming for both records and dual weight class dominance.

The news of this bout was shared on Twitter, confirming that the fight will take place at UFC 233 on January 26, 2019, in Anaheim, California. Initially, fighters like Jose Torres and Jarred Brooks hinted at their release, suggesting changes in the division may be imminent.

After his victory over Johnson at UFC 227 in August, Cejudo’s position as flyweight champion has been unchallenged. He expressed interest in facing the winner of the bantamweight title bout between Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt. Once Dillashaw defeated Garbrandt, a verbal agreement for the title fight with Cejudo was quickly reached on the same evening.
