Christian Daghio, a well-known Italian boxer, kickboxer, and mixed martial artist, tragically lost his life following a boxing match in Bangkok, Thailand. During the 12th round of the fight against Don Pareuang, Daghio suffered two knockdowns, with the final one resulting in a severe head injury when his head hit the canvas. He was immediately taken to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Daghio, who began his boxing career at the age of 46, endured numerous punches throughout the match, ultimately leading to his knockout. The bout was for the WBC Asia title, according to his brother Fabrizio, who confirmed the news to the Italian press. In a heartfelt statement, Fabrizio mentioned that Christian passed away doing what he loved most – in the ring, fulfilling his dream of fighting well into his 80s.
The late Daghio was a seven-time Muay Thai world champion with a wealth of experience from over 200 fights. Prior to his match with Pareuang, he had an undefeated streak spanning ten fights. Daghio had also dabbled in mixed martial arts, albeit with one loss in 2009. He left behind a girlfriend and a 5-year-old daughter, and his brother expressed concern about how tough it would be for the young girl to comprehend the loss of her father.
