Gennady Golovkin Expresses Interest in Fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov & Conor McGregor

Gennady Golovkin Wants To Fight Khabib Nurmagomedov & Conor McGregor

Not only Floyd Mayweather, but Gennady Golovkin, the former unified world middleweight champion, is also open to stepping into the Mixed Martial Arts arena. Golovkin, also known as GGG, who previously held titles in WBC, WBA, and IBO championships, expressed his desire to face both Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. His reign ended after losing to Canelo Alvarez in September 2017 via a majority points decision.

The 36-year-old boxing legend from Kazakhstan aimed at setting a record by defending his titles for the 21st time, but the judges awarded the victory to Alvarez from Mexico, causing Golovkin to lose his titles. Although Golovkin’s future in the sport remains uncertain, he indicated to TMZ Sports that he is interested in challenging McGregor and Nurmagomedov by stating that he would like to fight both of them.

While it is unclear whether Golovkin will pursue a bout with MMA stars, the possibility remains open for his future endeavors. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White disclosed that discussions have taken place with Floyd Mayweather’s team about a potential MMA fight involving Khabib, which paved the way for Mayweather’s bout against McGregor. This suggests that a matchup between Golovkin and Khabib or McGregor could materialize in the near future.

Given the success of the Mayweather-McGregor fight in 2017, which attracted a significant audience, there is considerable interest from White and Mayweather to orchestrate a similar event with Khabib in the coming days.
