It is still not clear about what it is that Conor McGregor meant by his confusing tweet about losing the match but winning the battle. By the looks of it, he didn’t win anything when he squared off against Khabib Nurmagomedov on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Los Angeles. Nevertheless, the whole world knows the McGregor is dead serious about the rematch, but the scenario is quite dusty based on the fact that if Khabib’s melee after his win will hold up for a rematch.
Dana White said on Monday that Nurmagomedov has to go before the Nevada commission, and we have to see what’s going to happen with Khabib and this whole mess.” But he said that Conor has already called him up, and he wants a rematch. White also added that this is something that McGregor wants, but it is unsure about what will happen with Khabib and what will come next.
White allegedly revealed that numerous members of the group of Khabib were immediately arrested, but Conor didn’t press any charges. One of the points which have the potential to trigger the rematch could merely be money, and this is not the $2 million which the Nevada State Athletic Commission is keeping away from Khabib due to the pending investigation into the fighting fiasco after the game was over and the octagon.
Luke Rockhold, the kickboxing teammate of Khabib, said that a rematch could prevent the investigation from bringing the light into this matter. The MMA show of Ariel Helwani on Monday featured the former middleweight champion Rockhold said to the UFC that “If you want Khabib, he’ll want a record-breaking number.”
It is unclear whether money is standing in the way of a rematch, but it is very much evident that McGregor will go toe to toe with Khabib one more time.
