The Vegas Golden Knights place goaltender Oscar Dansk on waivers

The Vegas Golden Knights, NHL

The Vegas Golden Knights placed goaltender Oscar Dansk on waivers on Friday, just a day after he began in the preseason victory of the team at Los Angeles.

Dansk, who scored 17 saves in the 7-2 victory, now has the chances to be claimed by any of the other 30 NHL teams with no compensation to the Knights.

If he is successful in clearing the waivers, then Dansk will continue to stay under contract with the Knights and is expected to be transferred to Chicago of the American Hockey League.

With Dansk being waived early in the training camp, there are fewer chances of him being claimed because most of the teams are not presently looking for a backup goaltender that has limited experience in the NHL.

This move by the Knights also lead to a trade as Dansk would not have to clear the waivers with a new NHL team. It may be noted that the same situation had occurred in the last season when the Knights had waived their backup goaltender, Calvin Pickard and traded him off the very next day.

Dansk is now competing for the number 3 goaltender position in the club along with Maxime Lagace, behind the backup player, Malcolm Subban.

Dansk scored a 3-0 with 1.78 goals which are against average and a .946 save percentage just before he injured his knee on October 30, in a game against the team New York Islanders.

Dansk collected a 13-3-4 record with 2.44 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in the last season in the AHL.

Besides Dansk, the Knights also placed defenseman Zac Leslie, who was acquired from the Los Angeles in a trade this year in February and forward Alex Gallant on waivers.

Well, one will have to wait and see what is in-store for Dansk in his NHL career.
