Max Pacioretty is now heading to the Sin City from the Original Six. The Vegas Golden Knights received Pacioretty from the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday night in exchange from Tomas Tatar, prospect player Nick Suzuki as well as a 2019 second-round pick. Vegas announced the deal that sends the All-Star forward of one of the oldest franchises of hockey to a club which is coming off a run to the Stanley Cup finals in an inaugural season.
Pacioretty was designated as the Canadiens caption in the year 2015. He has played all of the 626 NHL games with Montreal. He recently refused report of him requesting a trade. His name was being taken in trade speculation since the last season’s trade deadline. Pacioretty, 29, will now be entering in the final season of a six-year contract which will be paying him $4.5 million. When the Canadiens went to LA in February, he raved the air at T-Mobile Arena.
“Best road game I’ve ever played in,” Pacioretty said after a 6-3 win. “When you experience it for yourself, that was a treat to play, and I wish we played them more than once a year.”
“It was unbelievable,” he further added. “Everything was top-notch. Couldn’t ask for better music, better atmosphere, better fans.”
Pacioretty also is accustomed to Gerard Gallant, the Golden Knights coach, who was earlier an assistant coach under Montreal’s Michel Therrien in the year 2012.
Tatar has had twenty goals and 14 assists in the last season with the Vegas and the Detroit Red Wings. He was acquired just before the trade deadline. Suzuki, the 13th overall pick by the Golden Knights in the NHL draft of 2017, had last ended paying in his 2nd rookie game in two days at the practice session off the team less than an hour before the selection announcement.
