The Giants suffer defeat against the Mets; Andrew McCutchen addresses trade rumors

Giants lose a game to the Mets; Andrew McCutchen responds to trade reports

The Giants are facing potential changes as they may lose two key players in the near future. This setback could lead to a shift in focus towards the 2019 season and create opportunities for other team members.Just a day after reports emerged that Buster Posey might require season-ending hip surgery, the catcher made a comeback to the field in a 5-3 loss to the Mets on Wednesday. Andrew McCutchen’s absence from the lineup sparked rumors that the right fielder might be traded to another team in exchange for prospects.

According to a report by Athletic, McCutchen has passed through waivers, indicating that no team has claimed him, raising the possibility of a trade before the end of August. This situation also suggests that he could finish the season with the Giants, who would be responsible for the remainder of his $14.75 million salary, approximately $3 million.

“Until there’s a call or any concrete development, I’ll just take it as it is. I focus on playing baseball and try not to get caught up in the speculations. If you dwell on all the external factors, you lose sight of the game in front of you,” McCutchen commented.

McCutchen has shown consistency in his performances, which made his absence from the lineup surprising. His absence from the clubhouse during media sessions or batting practice was unusual, but he was present in the dugout during the game. Manager Bruce Bochy mentioned that McCutchen had taken a planned day off and would be back in the lineup for the series finale on Thursday.
