Retired minor league pitcher, Aaron Cox dies at the age of 24

The family of Aaron Cox, a 24-year-old retired minor league pitcher, announced his passing on Wednesday. Cox was known as the brother-in-law of Mike Trout, the renowned player for the Los Angeles Angels.The family did not disclose the cause of Cox’s death.

In a statement, both families expressed their sadness over the loss of Aaron Cox, highlighting his qualities as a loving son, brother, and brother-in-law. They shared their intentions to cherish the memories and moments spent with him.

They also expressed gratitude for the support and condolences from well-wishers during this difficult time.Cox, a right-handed reliever, had been part of the Angels’ system for the past three seasons. He played for the Angels’ High A Team in Inland Empire this season, with a record of 0-1 and an ERA of 4.11 before retiring on August 6.Throughout his career, Cox amassed a record of 7-3 with an ERA of 3.64 in 68 appearances.

Cox had faced a suspension for 50 games last season after testing positive for Ritalin, a prohibited stimulant in Major League Baseball, unless approved for therapeutic purposes.Earlier in the week, the Angels had revealed that Trout was absent from the team due to a family issue and might not be available after his scheduled return from the disabled list on Thursday.

Trout had been placed on the ten-day disabled list on Friday due to inflammation in his right wrist, with the move retroactive to August 6 when he received treatment for the injury. He had been sidelined since August 1 when he got injured during a game in Tampa Bay.
