Jalen Rose predicts LeBron James will choose short-term contract with Cavs

Jalen Rose feels LeBron James will opt to sign a one-and-done deal with Cavs

LeBron James is facing a deadline until June 29 to determine whether he will accept a $35 million contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the upcoming season. Speculations suggest that the 33-year-old NBA superstar is likely to decline the offer and become an unrestricted free agent as of July 1.

Should James opt for free agency, several NBA teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, and the Cavaliers, are expected to pursue him for his talents.

Despite his potential free agency, it seems James will handle his responsibilities diligently. Reports indicate that he will not attend presentations from interested teams but will signal that he has already made plans regarding his future.

On the ESPN sports talk show ‘Get Up!’, Jalen Rose expressed his views on the situation, suggesting that while the reports don’t provide a clear picture of James’ intentions, he believes James will turn down the current contract extension and opt for a new short-term deal with the team.

Rose reflected on the contrast between James and Carmelo Anthony, who recently accepted a contract option despite the team’s preference for him not to, highlighting the different paths their careers have taken since they were drafted in the same year.

Therefore, Rose envisions that a one-and-one contract with the Cavaliers could be James’ likely choice. Nevertheless, if James does choose free agency, his decision is expected to be made swiftly.
