Randy Gregory to seek NFL reinstatement next week

Randy Gregory, the suspended Cowboys defensive end is now working and going through several processes required to apply for reinstatement by the NFL, with the paperwork being finished and filed by his representation as early as next week, as per sources.

Gregory got suspended by the league since January 2017 for at least a year on charges of violating the substance abuse policy of the NFL. This is the third time that Gregory got suspended since the time he got selected as a second-round draft pick in the year 2015. He has a sack and 20 tackles in the 14 games he has played with the Cowboys.
GM Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, declined to say anything in detail on the situation but as per sources, Gregory has received plenty of help from the Cowboys and the NFL in the form of letters of recommendation as well as votes of confidence.

Jones said that he is very much aware of how hard Gregory has worked to get back into the NFL and on the field. He knows Gregory to be of the character and a kind of individual who is capable enough of overcoming the fact that he did not play in the last one year, he added. Jones further said that he feels Gregory can compete and come back but still, he does not want to comment in a presumptuous manner on whether or not Gregory will qualify to be reinstated.

A source who is close to Gregory said, “He’s doing unbelievable in California, getting ready for the season. We’ve got our fingers crossed that he could become the comeback story of 2018.”

If Gregory gets successful in getting a reinstatement by the league and can stay away from troubles, then he could help bring the Cowboys perform better. Gregory hopes to get a second chance form the league now.
