Johnny Manziel gets hospitalized in Texas over medication reaction

Johnny Manziel, the ex-Browns quarterback, was hospitalised in Humble, Texas after he spent the weekend along with his former college teammates and friends. As per TMZ sports, Manziel attended the JMBLYA music festival while he was in Texas for the weekend. He also spent a part of the weekend at his former college, College Station, where he played in a golf tournament put up by Mike Evans, his former teammate and present Buccaneers receiver.

On Monday night, however, Manziel was taken to the hospital in Humble as he reacted to a medication which he was taking for bipolar disorder, Manziel’s representative Denise Michaels said. Michaels did not say anything in detail about the situation. But after the reports about Manziel getting hospitalised became the headlines, the 25-year-old thought of releasing his statement on his Instagram handle.

Manziel wrote, “Thank you, everyone, for your concern and kind messages. Unfortunately, I reacted an increased dosage of lithium, which I take for Bipolar disorder. It was a scary moment, and I’m especially grateful for the staff at the hospital and all that they’ve done in the last 24 hours.”

Manziel had admitted in February this year that he was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and that he has been taking prescription drugs to fight it. Manziel, who was released in March 2016 by the Browns, has been trying to recover his image over the last few months as he is looking for opportunities to return to the NFL through a comeback which officially started in April when he played as the Spring League’s member in two games.

During these two games, he had finished 19 out of 31 games for 271 yards and a touchdown as well while also throwing an interception and rushing for two more touchdowns.
