Ex-Broncos running back C J Anderson joins Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers had a vacancy for running back after they were unable to find one in the draft. But now, the Panthers have found a 1000 yard rusher. The Panthers have signed a veteran running back C J Anderson to a one year deal; the team announced on via a tweet on Monday. However, the terms related to the deal were not disclosed by the team.

Carolina had released Jonathan Stewart, its leading rusher during the offseason who joined the Giants with a two-year deal during the free agency. But now, with Anderson joining the team, the Panthers’ running back group will become strong which already consists of second-year pro-Christian McCaffrey, Cameron Artis-Payne and Fozzy Whittaker.

Anderson, being 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 224 pounds, entered the NFL in the year 2013 as an undrafted free agent along with the Denver Broncos where he played for five seasons before getting released on April 16 this year, the day when the Broncos started their offseason conditioning program.

During Anderson’s time in Denver, he appeared in 58 games with 36 starts, including 16 starts in the year 2017. With the role as the featured rusher for the Broncos in the past season, Anderson successfully compiled his first career 1000 yard season in 2017.

In his career, Anderson has rushed for 3051 yards and 20 touchdowns, averaging 4.4 yards per attempt. Moreover, Anderson also has 859 yards receiving and four touchdowns on the 103 yards. The Panthers now has highly capable players with Anderson’s addition to the team combined with the skills McCaffrey has which should now keep Carolina among the NFL’s leader in rushing. The Panthers ranked at the fourth position in rushing in the 2017 regular season, averaging a healthy 131.4 yards per game.
