Pegula Sports announced on Tuesday that Russ Brandon has resigned as the president of both, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. The owners of Pegula Sports and Entertainment, Terry and Kim Pegula accepted Brandon’s resignation. The Buffalo News said that the move comes in after the company carried out an internal investigation on Brandon’s workplace behavior and personal misconduct allegations against him.
Kim Pegula will be assuming Brandon’s previous position as the president of the organizations while Terry Pegula will continue with his responsibility of overseeing the team operations. The Pegulas said in a statement, “We have a tremendous amount of confidence in the strong leadership teams we have built within each of those entities over the last several years.”
It further said that it is excited about the direction of their teams, especially after this past weekend’s NFL Draft and the NHL lottery results. Their primary focus now is to build companionship teams both on and off the field for the fans and community, the statement further read.
Brandon worked in the front office of the Florida Marlins before working with Bills in several roles since the year 1997. He has worked with the Bills for more than the past two decades and has served as the director of the non-football operations then general manager than CEO, and in the year 2013, he assumed the role of the president. Since the year 2015, Brandon has been the president of the Sabres, after the Pegulas bought the team.
Notably, the Bills got in Josh Allen, Wyoming quarterback in the last week’s draft, hoping that they have found their leader for the franchise. This past weekend, the Sabres won the NHL draft lottery and earned the right to draft the defenseman, Rasmus Dahlin.
