Ravens trade back for 1st round to draft QB Lamar Jackson at No. 32

The Baltimore Ravens have made a surprising move to trade back to the first round and to select Lamar Jackson with the 32nd overall pick on Thursday night. It adds an exciting playmaker to one of the NFL’s worst offences and also provides some intrigue to the quarterback position.

Joe Flacco who is the Ravens officials insisted that the remains of the starter and cautioned anyone from jumping to the conclusions that Jackson will soon replace the Super Bowl-Winning quarterback. Jackson is said to be a great quarterback player, but Joe Flacco is going to our quarterback as said by Ravens coach John Harbaugh.

He added by saying “That’s the thing we got to remember. Lamar is going to have a great chance to develop. When you get to this stage in a quarterback’s career, you’ve seen done in New England, and you’ve seen done in a lot of places. This doesn’t change things in a sense that we’re going to go with Joe and he’s going to roll.”

Harbaugh makes it clear by saying that Ravens will see the speedy Jackson as a hybrid player. Harbaugh said “The big thing is he’s a quarterback. That’s the first thing to remember. He’s a quarterback through and through. He’s a playmaker. We do some analytics, and when the ball is in his hands, there hasn’t been a better playmaker really in the last few years coming out.”

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome called it as masterful, and how they were able to trade down twice to get tight end Hayden Hurst and then move back into the first round for Jackson. Baltimore has traded its picks in the second and fourth round in 2019 second-round pick to Philadelphia for the No 32 and the Eagles’ fourth-rounder.
