On Tuesday night, the New York Mets will go on for their fourth straight win when they face the Miami Marlins. Currently, the Mets have won six games at a stretch and lead the National League East. The Mets manager, Mickey Calloway said that the team already knows that they are a good team.
On the other hand, the Marlins are in the last place in the same division, after losing Monday’s game, 4-2. On Monday, New York prevailed despite playing a 12 inning game on Sunday night at the Washington Nationals.
On Monday, shortstop Amed Rosario went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a double which went off the wall in straightaway center. The Mets who have lived up to the best nine-game start in the franchise history, have now entered this series with an overall team ERA of 2.40. This makes the team rank second in the majors.
Mets’ right-hander Jacob deGrom is off to a strong start with a 2-0 record and a 1.54 ERA. Notably, deGrom is 47-32 with a 2.95 ERA in his career. He has 12 strikeouts and 11 2/3 innings this season and so Mets’ feel that he is yet to hit his groove. He won eight straight starts from June 12 to July 24 in 2017 which is the longest streak in the majors that year.
Last year, the Marlins had hit 264 with three homers in two games played against deGrom. In those games, deGrom was 0-1 win 4.73 ERA. On the other hand, standout catcher JT Realmuto, shortstop JT Riddle and third baseman Martin Prado are injured.
The bottom line is that this is a new Marlins new lineup and one will have to wait and see how they would play against deGrom in the upcoming game.
