Texans’ Bob McNair: Panthers’ Jerry Richardson has explained his side of the story to owners

Jerry Richardson, the Carolina Panthers owner has offered an explanation to some of the NFL owners at least on the allegations of racial and sexual workplace misconduct said against him, Bob McNair, Houston Texans owner said on Sunday.

McNair said on his first day of the NFL owners meeting he understands what he is saying and sometimes people choose to try and make something go away instead of figuring them out. He thinks that Richardson’s regret is that he did not fight some of these things.

The NFL on December had begun with an investigation into the allegations after a reporter from Sports Illustrated had reported that Richardson reached a financial settlement with three of his ex-employees who had alleged him for sexual harassment and a former scout who had alleged that Richardson had addressed with a racial slur.
81 years old Richardson announced the same day that he had planned to sell his team after the season gets over instead of waiting for two years until he dies, as he previously had planned.

The very next day, he had promoted Tina Becker to the post of Chief Operating Officer and had withdrawn from conducting the day-to-day operations of the Panthers.
Richardson has never spoken to the media about the allegations filed against him and is neither attending any of the league meetings. But as per McNair, Richardson has discussed the matter with the team owners.

When asked about Richardson’s thought of selling the Panthers, McNair ridiculed the speculation and said that Richardson will ever pull back his team from the market.
However, as per sources, the hope that Richardson will select a good and winning bid for his team sometime in early April and the owners will vote for the winner in the May meetings to be held in Atlanta.
