Cleveland Brown will sign running back Carlos Hyde

Cleveland Brown will sign running back Carlos Hyde

As per Ian Rapport, Carlos Hyde, who is one of the top running back free agents this offseason, has signed a three-year contract with the Cleveland Browns which is worth over $15 million and includes $6 million in the first year itself. Even though this makes it feel like Hyde was in the BFL forever, however in reality; he is fresh off, playing the final season under his rookie contract.

The San Francisco 49ers originally drafted Hyde in the second round of the 2014 draft with the No. 57 pick overall. He had replaced Frank Gore, a free agent. While Gore was a 1000 yard rusher for the 49ers, Hyde never hit that threshold in his first four NFL seasons.

He had a rough few seasons at the beginning of his NFL season, seeing three different head coaches in four years. Later, things started to work out when Kyle Shanahan was hired as the head coach in the year 2017. Hyde played in all the 16 games and finished the last season, the first ever time he has done so in his career.

The first risk in this new deal is that whether Hyde can stay healthy. Fortunately, Hyde has proved that he was able to pull off an entire season in the year 2017 despite some on and off hip issues. Although his long list of injuries is a factor of major concern in deciding which contract he would be signing, Hyde’s production still made the deal worth it with Browns.

The Browns have already signed Todd Haley as their new offensive coordinator who puts them ahead in the right direction already. And the addition of Tyrod Taylor at quarterback and Hyde signing the contract, it looks like the Browns are committed to including the best fit as per Taylor’s style.
