Adam Rippon, the 28-year old figure skater who represented America in the winter Olympics and won bronze became a star overnight. It has not even been a month and this person is all over the headlines of the top newspapers.
He was invited to the most popular reality talk show, the Ellen DeGeneres Show lately, had several photoshoots with the leading magazines such as InStyle and Rolling Stone, went on to the Oscars wearing an S-and-M themed tuxedo and stole the show, came all the way to New York City for the stops at Vanity Fair and Buzzfeed and Bravo.
He has been all over the news but what is new about it? He has been all over the news because he was invited to the New York Times where a team of reporters and renowned editors toasted him about what he has learned in figure skating and what he has been doing after the win. The reporters asked him numerous questions where the questions included of his career, some from his personal life, and some from his life after winning the game at winter Olympics.
One of the reporters asked, how are you going to find time to continue to skate at the level that you have been skating at?
This was my first and probably not “probably.” I am not going to lead you down that path. This is my first and the last Olympic experience as an athlete. On our Olympic team, I was 28 years old, and we had two other really talented kids who were 17 and 18. So, there’s a bit of an age gap there where I could have changed their diapers and babysat them when they were born. I’m an Olympics medallist, I’m a former national champion- I think now is my time to kind of step back and help them.
