After the Mavericks initiated a Sports Illustrated investigation in a case which raised many questions on the working environment in the Dallas Mavericks organization, Dirk Nowitzki, the team’s longtime start has spoken on this and termed the allegations as truly, truly disgusting. Nowitzki gave his comment after the team practised at USC in advance of a Friday game against the Lakers. He stated, “It’s tough. It’s very disappointing. It’s heartbreaking. I’m glad it’s all coming out. I was disgusted when I read the article, obviously, as everybody was. I was shocked about some of the stuff.”
A few days ago, some women had brought the allegation of multiple sexual harassments against the former Mavericks president and CEO Terdema Ussery. They stated that he used to practice multiple acts of inappropriate behaviour with the female employees in the organization. He served the team for around 18 years and he resigned from the job after these allegations came to the front. As per the statement was given by employees, the HR of the company also ignored the complaint made against Ussery. On the other side, side Ussery has denied all the allegation made against him. In 1998, he was investigated by the team after some women brought similar claims that time.
However, recently, the Mavericks informed that they are now investigating the matter. The team also stated that, after giving false information and misleading the team regarding a domestic violence, the team has suspended Earls Sneed, the website reporter.
Nowitzki further stated “So really, really disappointed that our franchise, that my franchise, that stuff like that was going on. As a franchise, obviously, we feel bad for the victims and for what happened to some of these ladies. Like I said, it’s truly, truly disgusting. Our thoughts and prayers are definitely with some of these victims.”
Rick Carlisle, the coach of Mavericks also commented on this incident and stated, “What I can tell you is there is going to be a thorough investigation into this from an outside group led by two people at the top of their profession.”
As per the report, the investigation will be carried out by Krutoy Law, a New York firm led by Evan Krutoy, a former prosecutor in the Manhattan district attorney’s office.
