During the match between the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans played on Wednesday night, Rajon Rondo and Isaiah Thomas the two former Celtics point guards got tangled up, exchanged words and then they were ejected in the first quarter after double technical fouls. The Pelicans defeated the Lakers by 139-117 points.
As per the report, Thomas and Rondo tangled up two times. The reason behind this was Rondo hounded the Lakers point guard on defense. After that, the two again came to face to face second time but the officials separated the point guards. Near the end of the first quarter, 33.3d seconds left, the pair were ejected. That lead the two exchanged words and Rondo got heated.
Both the players are playing for the Celtics. Talking about their recent history Rondo and Thomas, Rondo, has been played in Boston for eight-plus seasons. Recently he questioned why the Celtics were going to give Thomas a video tribute during the no. 34 retirement ceremony of Paul Pierce. Now talking about Thomas he played three seasons for the Celtics. After Rondo was traded in the season 2014-15 he joined Boston.
Rondo stated, “What has he done?” When the Pelicans point guard, who won a championship in Boston, he said it was Thomas who led the Celtics to the Eastern Conference finals last season. Rondo commented, “Oh, that’s what we celebrate around here?”
Rondo further added “This is the Boston Celtics, this isn’t the Phoenix Suns. No disrespect to any other organization, but you don’t hang conference titles.”
That was his second game with the Lakers after he joined the team. He has traded with Channing Frye and a protected first-round pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. last week.
In five minutes he scored three points and two assists. In case of Rondo, in just eight minutes he had scored four points, five assists, and three rebounds.
