In a three-way deal, with the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings, Rodney Hood and Georgy Hill have been acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers. As per the deal, the Cavaliers will send Iman Shumpert to the Sacramento Kings. As per the sources, Sacramento acquires Joe Johnson from Utah and on the other side, Utah has been acquired Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose from Cleveland. The Cavaliers also traded Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye to the Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. As per the previous report, the Miami Heat has acquired Cleveland’s, Dwyane Wade.
Hill was first signed by the Kings during the last summer after rejecting an extension contract with the Jazz. He disappointed the team with his role with the kings. It is now expected that he can help Cavaliers’ defense formation with his ability to guard both positions in the backcourt. He is averaging 10.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in the current season.
As per the signed contract, the guaranteed amount for the 2018-19 season is $19 million and only $1 million of the $18 million on his 2019-20 contract is guaranteed.
After the deal, the Kings now have $24 million in the room and it can be increased to $40 million if Shumpert and Garrett Temple sign out their contracts. Sources said for next season Shumpert has an $11 million option, and Temple has an $8 million option. The king also doing a deal with the Toronto Raptors under which, Bruno Caboclo will join the King and Malachi Richardson will go to the Raptors.
Hood with averaging 16.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in his fourth season with the Jazz. As he was suffering from ankle injuries he missed seven games. last month he slapped a cell phone from a fan’s hand for which he was fined $35,000. As the deal is still on it is expected that many teams will get new players in their team.
