Jimmy Garoppolo extended duration of contract with the 49rs

The present quarterback of the San Francisco 49rs is officially announced as the future quarterback of the team. On Thursday the Niners announced that Jimmy Gar Garoppolo has been signed a five-year contract extension through the 2022 season with the team. As per the sources, the contracted amount is $137.5 million which also include a guaranteed amount of $90 million for the first three years. Well, that deal has created a history in NFL making it the largest three-year total guaranteed amount.

Despite just seven NFL starts, the contract has made him the league’s highest-paid player. The average annual value of the deal is $27.5 million per season is the largest in NFL history. Last year this record was created by Detroit’s Lions QB Matthew Stafford, but it is $500,000 more per season than the previous record. Well, to announce this extension the team held a press conference at Levi’s Stadium on Friday. Garoppolo’s signing comes as no surprise. He successfully finished the 2017 season. In their final five-game, he managed to lead the Niners to victories from a 1-10 team.

San Francisco general manager John Lynch said “We want Jimmy to be a Niner for a long, long time,” Lynch said on Jan. 2. “That process is going to take place here. We’re eager to get that done, to have the opportunity. … You have our assurances, and the fans do, that we’d like nothing more than to make him a Niner for a long, long time.”

However, both the Niners and Lynch have not revealed much about the negotiations. A representative of Garoppolo, Don Yee also didn’t speak much about it. Well, Lynch has given a routine update throughout the process. He said the Niners were “working hard” to get a deal done. It may be noted that on Oct. 31, 2017, Garoppolo hired by the team from the New England Patriots.
